How to add a Time Stamp?

I want to do some cache busting . . .

I want to add a random number using a timestamp to:
...ord=randomnumber?

What do I need to do? Can I just substitute [timestamp]? for random number?

Does it have to be unique? I don't really understand the whole purpose involved but I don't see why you couldn't do that. If it is imperative that it is unique I would append or prepend something else to it just to be sure.

Thanks jatar_k, I wanted to create the random number to attach on to the end of banner ads so that I would get credit for the numbers of ads shown on my site. I ended up using a javascript solution to create the random number. Initially I was against using javascript but, in the end, it was easiest.
