So i'm always hearing "watch for robots" "eximine your logs". I've been doing that...but the quesiton is - how not to be a passive watcher? I have a new site (4 months old) and MSN used to come everyday. Now it hasn't for a few weeks... So to attract it(them) I am:

1. Refreshing homepage daily and adding new content
2. Submitting site to as many free-submit seo-friendly dirs as I can find.

Can someone add to this list?

Yes, if you can get the high quality links to your site, I think the search engineers will come back to you soon, if you don't do sth. wrong.

In these discussions everyone always mentions the submissions they're doing, etc., and they never mention *what they're doing to improve their site*. Is your site best in class? If not, then make it so, get the word out, and when people see it they'll link to it because it's so good.

If your site is already best in class (unlikely) buy some cheap Adwords advertising to start some buzz.

Thanks guys,

MichaelBluejay - I agree with you. I'm in a process of creating a free extensive pic library for everyone to use (Creative Commons). Submission is important but of course - more importantly i need to make it usefull - which i'm working hard on! :)

thanks all again
