What should I name my main directory pages?

/directory/index.html or ... bluewidget.html?

I was wondering what would be the best way to name to main pages in each of my directories? Should I have an index.html page in every folder? Or should I call them by the title of my page?

www.mydomain.com/directory1/index.html and
www.mydomain.com/directory2/index.html

or

www.mydomain.com/directory1/bluewidget.html
www.mydomain.com/directory2/redwidget.html

Does it make any difference for the SE?

I also thought index.html better if someone just types in the directory. So it wouldn't show all the files.

ie

www.mydomain.com/directory1/

What do you think?

I subscribe to the cruft free [google.com] format.

www.example.com/directory1/

This lets you keep the same URL structure in the future if you want to use another file format.
