Content is king and PR is not important

how i got from rank#10000000etc.. to #5 on Google

i have this web site it was a real mess before, because someone else did it for me, when do a widget.com it wouldn't even show up on google or show up for the main key word'party widgets' so recently it got a PR1 with no incoming links on Google and just a few worthless ones on yahoo, and no where to be found in google's serp's so i gave the site a makeover redesigned everything added lots of content with carefully planned algorithm and already its #5 out of 107,000,000.Just wanted to tell the people who are to much into what their sites PR is, that it helps with ranking alittle maybe but in the end content and age of the site are the ones that matters:)

I can't wait until your post about the fact that a 7 year old domain with great, original content is hated by Google! But, I agree that PageRank hardly seems to matter.

maybe, bit its half the way up and i used the keywords in all the right places, i wasn't planning it to have such an effect i thought maybe i will just show up in top 30 maximum, and start a link campaign to boost PR.

I miss the old days when you could get a pr7 about one subject and you could rank for any subject you put in the title.

I have been at the top of the search engines for many years for major key words and phrases. The major contributing factors have not been PR's or Links. It has been age of site, content and thousands of quality pages linked together. I do not have a high PR or thousands of external incoming links, yet I always rank ahead of my competitors who do. I have been at the top for about 4 years now. My site is over 6 years old and only use simple static html pages.

I prioritize on getting links from pages with related content, not PR. I'm sure PR is some indicator, but I believe whatever makes sense in real life, does so to the search engines as well.

I wish I could say the same thing. My site I open for a long time. And I guess because I fund it myself Google doesn't like me because I've had to close down due not being able to pay the bills, plus I change the domain name a few times and basially started over on it. Guess that was a bad idea. But now that I'm going strong at least I'm past my mistakes, but google doesn't seem to. My site under its current name has been open for 3 months now and it only has a PR of 2 and thats only on the home page, the rest have 0 PR. Which it shouldn't matter but not when I only have 58 link backs in Googles.
