Going Wireless

Foolishly didn't start that way

I bought a laptop about a year ago, and foolishly didn't pay the extra $40 (or whatever little it was) to get wireless capabilities. Now I'm getting into situations where wifi Internet access is all I can get, and I'd really like to be able to hook up to it.

I know I can get one of those wireless PC cards that slide into the slot of my laptop (forget what that slot is called at the moment), but I'd rather have something actually built in to the computer that wouldn't have to be put in and taken out all the time.

So what are my options? I'm pretty clueless in the whole area of wifi and laptops, so a little advice will be warmly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Why don't you just visit the manufacturer's website and see if you can buy a miniPCI card? They should be just a bit more than the PCMCIA, CardBus or whatever external slot you've got.

If you have a local repair shop or laptop stockist they should be able to upgrade you to fully wireless with no real problems. The components are fairly inexpensive now, the labour costs will probably be more than the part cost.
