I'm helping my brother with a real estate site he wants. Only now he wants to add a membership area where members can log in to view statements/reports about the sites they are renting, payments due, etc.. I have no clue as to where to even start looking for such a program.. not to mention how to get it installed.. but I'll worry about the install later. First I wanted to see if anyone knew of some free (and maybe even easy) program that would do such a thing?

You mean an authentication system? Or some real estate application? Well, either way, you could always write your own. Or perhaps you could search some of the open source sites (sourceforge, freshmeat, hotscripts) to see if you can locate something close to what you want.
