I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it using the search feature, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light....I am changing from a shared to a dedicated server and I was wondering if changing the IP address will have an effect on the SERPs?

Since our site has grown, we've become increasingly concerned about running on a shared server, but we have been reluctant to change due to good placement for our keywords. Thanks in advance.

Assuming that your current pages indexed in the search engines isn't IP based, then moving the domain should have zero effect.

Make sure that your URLs don't change. Keep the folder names the same etc.

But, all that will change will be the IP address and that is handled by the DNS servers for your domain name.

The main thing is to have the old hosting and new server running concurrently for a while since DNS does not propigate everywhere equally. You'd want to stay on your shared hosting for about 2 weeks after your DNS points the website to your new dedicated server.
