Email Problems

I'm just wondering if anyone here has had a similar issue or knows why this is happening. I set up some POP mail accounts for my domain name...something like '[e-mail]' and '[e-mail]' but my host sent me back a note saying they had been created but the user names for "login purposes" were different (built partly out of the domain name).

Usernames were something like "mydomainw01" and "mydomainw02"

Okay, I didn't mind that I still could post [e-mail] on the site, or whatever. Later I realized (much to my dismay and chagrin) that when I SENT mail to people it arrived as... "[e-mail]"

What's up with that? Are they using some sort of weird email system or what? How do I get real email addresses based on my domain name???!! Anyone encounter this before?

In most email programs (Outlook, NS communicator etc) you can set the 'from' email address to anything you want. It may just be that simple for you to do. You need to go into you preferences and pull up your account settings and have a look at what the settings are.

The ns1.hostname... is likely your pop mail server so don't change any server settings or you won't be able to send or receive.

I sent them a rather nasty email and got a response that they will be upgrading their email system soon. Meantime I guess I'll just have to use Outlook (yuck!). Hope they're quick with that upgrade!
