content management system script - recommend please?

Right guys,

Just wondering if anybody can recommend some free content management scripts...

Similar to PHPNUKE - but NOT! I am not a fan of PHPNUKE!

I only want a basic design, menu down left hand side, content on page, basic header!

It wont be a big website, preferably with a registration option (as I want my user to have to register to download what I am offering).

Only small script if possible, but not a necessity!

Any programming language!

I would recommend you to look at MovableType which is rumoured to be SE friendly even thou it is not free. The system is extremely feature rich, well documented, and widely used. You can even buy a book covering the subject .

Also take a look at Typo3. A free Danish developed CMS that are just as feature rich, well documented and widely used as Movable Type if not more.
