What questions do you ask new clients?

Ok...way back, I used to have a form I had new (prospective) clients fill out when they wanted work.

I recall questions related to desired audience, colours, provide links to site you like/dislike, etc, etc...

...but I stopped using it for a long time, and have probably deleted it. I can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone have a standard form they have people fill out or that details standard questions you ask all your potential clients...I really do wish I still had mine, it was only about 15 or so questions, but they were my "standard" so to speak.

The reason I ask, is that an old client has returned and I suppose like the process and wants to go through it again for a new project...and of course...I have no idea what I used to ask.

Umm..so yeah, I'll stop rambling now if someone can help me out here.

The questions I ask are going to differ based on the very first question. I've realized over the years this is the root of all web work, for both sides of the deal:

What is your budget?

Second,

What do you expect this site to do for you?

From there it goes into how we approach doing the things the customer expects and how much each idea will cost. Inevitably, there is no advantage to lowballing a project just to get it, you wind up working for nothing.
