Using a .com domain name with a Homestead account

My travel website is now five years old and doing very well regarding search engine positions. As my host is Homestead, I have up to now been using the included homestead extension in my URL. I recently purchased a com domain name and would really like to use this instead. What worries me is, will this in anyway cause a loss of search engine ranking?
TIA
Mick

I'll be running into the same problem as I just bought my own domain - but I have an old old homestead account, like from when they first launched.

If there is a way with homestead to 301 redirect all the site.homestead.com to your new site, the search engines will eventually display your new urls in the serps in about two months. I haven't touched my homestead in awhile since (I've been busy with two other domains), but I thought I remember seeing some domain transfer options.

On another site, I redirected all the old urls to new ones, that took two months, now google doesn't display any of my old urls. I kept my ranking too.

Thanks for that, think I will give it a try and cross fingers.
