There are thousands of sites like mine that come up when I input my main keywords into google and yahoo search, yet I have been told by a SEO company that my 'type; of site would not be included for the following reasons;

site 1 - Pages dedicated to directing the user to another page ("doorway pages") and Sites with numerous, unnecessary virtual hostnames

It is a freebie site but no different really to any other freebie with hundreds of listings that direct the user to another website. So realy cant understand this.

site 2 - and for the second site: Pages that rely heavily on content or links to content created for another web site, such as affiliate content.

This is a 6 page website and has quite a lot of advertising and affiliate links but again I dont it being any different to many other sites are listed already in google search.

Does anyone have any advice for me please as I feel like ive wasted my time building 2 sites here that will never get inclusion in major search engines.

Search engines do not want to index duplicate content. So pages on your second site may not be indexed if the search engines decide they have seen the content before.

If it's the case that you are simply using content created by others, particularly affiliate feeds, then you are unlikely to rank well. You need to spend the time needed to come up with something original if you want to rank well and avoid a duplicate content penalty.

Well, you never know for sure. There are surprises.

However, these don't sound like promising sites. As you point out there are thousands just like them, so what would be gained by adding them to a search engine? (other than by you)

Direct penalties can be (aren't always) applied for using doorway pages. Penalties are common for duplicate content. It takes a while (sometimes a long while) for new sites to do well in Google. It's probably hard to get many good incoming links to a site like you describe, and if you want to do well in Google you need incoming links.

Did you waste your time? No, education is a very valuable thing, we all learn one way or the other. You can always buy ads to your site, or may get lucky.

What should you do? Redo the sites to have original worthwhile content on the subject, not just ads and copied affiliate stuff. Then SEO will work for you.

Quite simply put, you have nothing on your site that is not available on thousands of other sites.

So why should Google - or any other search engine - want to add yet one more site full of ads etc. that is duplicated in untold other places.

Sorry, but simply rearranging what is already out there does not make a website that Google or anyone else would want to see.

Here's a thought...

What could make your site unique? What content could you create/buy/ask permission to use/find in the public domain, related to whatever your topic is, that would make your site stand out above the other sites in your market?

Create CONTENT! Search Engines, and more importantly Human Brains, love content!
