Hey all,

I finally got around to launching a blog. It's up and running, but I have done nothing else.

Any suggestions as to what I need to do now as far as...

...registering with blog resources
...getting it listed it important places
...adding important features to the blog itself
...other marketing advice.

thanks.

make sure your system pings all of the big blog repositories. Are you handling that? If it doesn't you can do it manually via something like pingomatic.

Register it with blog directories - place their little banners in your sidebar before you submit to them

Get a free stats counter like sitemeter.

My question has always been... once we get a blog up, what do we put on it? What do we do with it....

it's no different then walking into a room of people... either start or jump into the conversation.

whats the thing that you want to talk about?

I guess what I am really asking.. what makes a blog different than what you would put on a standard (ecommerce) website?

What would go in a blog that you might not put on your website?

You should get it listed in some blogger directories and start joining blog forums and get it in your sign.

Your blog should be conversation about something which you are a subject matter expert on.

So for example... if you're ecommerce site sells UPS Battery Backup devices you would essentially be blogging about those devices at a conversation level. Most people know they need a UPS right but do they really know how much power their HDTV pulls and why that could be an important part of their decision making process when selecting a UPS for their HDTV.

Buz: I'm confused. What is the intended topic of your blog? (In general terms at least). -LH
