freeware shareware screen capture movie maker?

simple, small, cheap, ideally free

I know there's a decent shareware screen capture app that allows me to make movies of actions, such as in demonstrating software products, but can't think of a name, any ideas?

The point is to make a movie of a piece of software, using it, live. Should be freeware ideally, shareware next best.
