This may be an extremely stupid question but how do I firstly pick up email addressed to me@mydomain.com?

Secondly - how do I write back with me@mydomain.com as the address in the from part of the email.

Thirdly when registering and hosting names - can i do this with all companies or do I need to find companies that do this?

Apologies for my ignorance!

Ask a question you are a fool for a moment.
Don't ask a question and you are a fool for life.

Firstly are you hosting your domain or do you have a host account with a company?

Your host company will set up the email account for you. It is usually included as part of the hosting account, and once you have the domain they should just be able to set it up with little knowlage from you.

They will usually offer you some amount of aliases.

So you can have you@ webmaster@ sales@

Now to recieve those emails you will need some info from your host company. They should have instructions on how to configure your "Outlook Express" or whatever email client you use. Most companies have a handout or a set of instructions on how to do it.

It really depends on weather or not they are using webmail clients or IMAP or POP (Ways of doing email). I am sure the company that is going to do this will have all the details. If they don't I would question if they are the right company.

I know I haven't given you much specifics but the company you contact to do your hosting should be able to give you better details. It really depends on how they do things.
