I am preparing a new website for which I have 2 possible domains - hyphened and non hyphened:

domain-name.com Created Sept 2004, parked since then
domainname.com Created TODAY

domainname.com is easier to type, but domain-name.com will soon be 2 years old, and might not be so affected by the sandbox.

If i use the hyphened domain, i could of course 301 redirect the non hyphened in case the user mistypes.

Which would you choose?

Even though the hyphenated name is the elder of the pair, I'd focus my energy on the new kid on the block, domainname.com and 301 the big brother.
Not saying that's the best move for everyone, but I'm thinking for the long term, and I believe domainname.com will always be more brandable than domain-name.com and easier for interested folks to recall use and every bit as important, at least to me, correctly share the name with others.

I'm considering a domain-name.com simply because the name i want (domainname.com) has gone.

Would you recommend I choose a different name without a hyphen?

Looks like it'll be non hpyhenated - at least age isn't the only ranking factor.
