Ok i Have a large content based website with user reviews etc.

BUT do i introduce a new forum to the site and risk having the content side neglected by my visitors?

Im running adsense and would not like to lose that stream of revenue!

Anybody with experience in doing the above could you please offer some friendly advice.

Regards
Adam

You will never be harmed by having forums. Period.

Bolting a forum onto an established website isn't as easy or as good an idea as it may first appear. It really depends on your users and the topic in which your site covers, is it conducive to discussion/debate for example?

Perhaps provide a comments form instead and apply comments to your content as that way users won't be dragged away into darkened forums...

That said, hey, give it a try, you just don't know and it will be a good and challenging way to learn more about your users and indeed your website. And if iy works out, a brilliant addition to your website.
