My site's been down since around 8 this morning. On inspection I noticed DNS was timing out at worldnic, the DNS servers for Network Solutions. I can't even get to their website to get their contact number and find out what's going on.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

I'm having the same problem. Been trying to call Network Solutions and noone answers the phone...not a good sign.

There's a post about it over at Internet Storm Center, [isc.sans.org...] :

Thanks for the posts, glad to know it's not just local.

Looking at my server logs, it looks like people have been trickling through for the past hour and a half. I guess I should attribute that to cached DNS lookups.

We just got through to Network Solutions via phone & they can't even give us an ETA on this.

No new information about the current outage, but it's worth noting that as recently as one week ago, Network Solutions was the victim of a DOS attack that hit their DNS, per [computerworld.com...] :

MARCH 28, 2006 (COMPUTERWORLD) - In the second attack of its kind in the past few days, Domain Name System (DNS) servers at Network Solutions Inc. were hit by a denial-of-service attack this afternoon, resulting in a brief performance degradation for customers, according to the company.

The attacks, which started at around 2:20 p.m. EST, were targeted at the company’s WorldNIC name servers and resulted in a service degradation for about 25 minutes before the server was restored to normal, a spokeswoman for the company said.

There's currently no evidence that this is what's happening today, April 4, but the fact that it's occurring one week after a confirmed DOS attack seems less than coincidental.

Well, I just got off the phone with Network Solutions and was told they should be back up by noon EST... but the tone of the person on the phone didn't give me much confidence

Yup, all our clients' sites with domain hosting by Network Solutions appear to be accessible again. Whew!
