hi all,

i was hoping to maybe get some help from you.

it just started happening this morning. about every 10-15 mins i get an "Enter Network Password" box appearing on my screen for various .gov.uk websites (netregs.gov.uk, food.gov.uk etc). I know i have never had a registration for any of these and i am not on a web page that needs a password either. they just pop up.

I have run adaware and my F-Secure and nothing has shown up.

Would anyone on here have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Does the message box include an edit box for you to enter a password?

If not, it sounds like you've been hit by an exploit in Windows Messenger. Try a Google search for messenger popup.

I'd be inclined to try the Messenger Popup solution anyway - it may be a new version of an old problem.

Having tried that. I'd check firewall settings and then bring up the task manager and verify all the current processes. Generally, I just Google processname.exe but you may find one site comes up regularly for each search and you may prefer to use that site directly.
