Members-Only Pages

How do I go about creating pages that are accessible only to members?

Or the real question is: can anyone point me in the direction of how I can create a member registration function on a site, and then allow only members access to certain pages (without requiring a password for each page)?

There are programs that will do this for you, use your favorite search engine to look up member login script.
