Hello Friends:

What is the most common screed resolution nowadays? It seems that most new PC monitors can handle 1024 X 768, but I usually design for 800 X 600 just to be on the safe side (tables and images no wider than about 770 pixels).

Blessings,
Robert Shields

I read a few days ago a report claiming 21% of users still at 800x600. It was reasonably current, but darned if I can recall the source right now.

It was enough to push me to still work to that size.

w3schools posts the stats of visitors to their website.

In Jan 2006 they report 57% with 1024x768 and 20% with 800x600. Another website I found claims 76% / 21%.

All of the stats I see say that 1024x768 is the most popular with average web-surfers, while gamers tend to lean towards 1152x864 and 1280x768.

In the past few years, I've also read somewhere that (735-775) is the pixel range used by most web designers who design within the 800x600 screen size.
