I have a membership database that I'm sending mass emails to. I know that an individual can mark an email as spam. I know that each anti-spam software is different. But, are there any general guidlines as far as what to avoid to keep emails from being marked as spam to opt in lists?

For example, one of our employees has Norton Anti-Virus. He has not marked anything as spam, but when I send out a memberwide email, Norton marks it as spam.

Thanks for any help you have to offer.

Hello,
I work for an anti-spyware company. We also deal with anti-spam. First of all when you say you're sending massive emails, are they all subscribers? It is illegal to send out unwanted solicitations. Anti-spyware software looks at many different things then it rates it. If it's too high it will go straight to the spam inbox. There are programs out there that you can send out test emails and see how it was scored. It will give you details on what you need to improve. One is called No Spam Today. Google is your friend on that one.

ps. another thing...it takes only one person to report you to spam blacklists and your email might be always redirected to a spam inbox.

Yes, they are all subscribers. They are being sent directly from our server.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.
