Do you want to say that before you started that ambitious project, you hadn't thought much about money you could make with it? Had you written a business plan or done a relevant research?
Well, anyways, I think it's a promising project.
Concerning updating, you know, it's a general rule that updating a site's content is important in all respects: be that SEO or attractiveness to the visitors.
Good luck,
You can definitly make money from that. Update your tutorials often. Get a mailing list so you can email everybody when you have new tutorials.
If you teach begginer stuff and are good at it then you will have loyal visitors for the long haul. ( Asumming you have some advanced stuff availible once they master your basics)
In my experiance the smarter, more web savy your visitors are the less they will click/buy things from your advertisers. Not always but I think that is the norm. Cater to whomever you want but newbies you lend a helping hand to in there infancy will remember your site(s) after there not newbies and will pass your sites name on there there friends/family.
It was a two hour class with a hour of follow up time.
Many of the students became long term clients.
I would also review their site, their market and offer suggestions. This added a couple of hours to the project.
I stop doing the classes because updating the material became a burden.
