I've noticed the character  in a few places in my site. In order to more-simply see what's going on, I want to get a list of all pages in my site containing this character.

So I try the query  site:www.mysite.com ... but this doesn't work. Instead of showing me every page with the character Â, it shows me every page with the character A. I tried searching for , and searching from a different Google portal (google.fr, etc), but neither of these worked.

In Yahoo, I did get a better result ... but it was only one page, while I know there are rather a few. MSN, in this case, was just as useless as Google was.

Any advice? Am I asking the impossible?

You won't be able to do this with a SE search as they all use transposition to a greater or lesser extent - in other words the accented and non-accented characters are considered synonymous within a keyword. This is important as many searchers omit accents in their query or place them incorrectly.

You should try a global search/replace tool on your files and/or database. Bear in mind that you may have an encoding problem which results in the accented character being displayed in error.
