I've been reading a lot about the so called google sandbox and it's effect on new domains, I also read that google deletes everything in the index for an expired domain.
my question is, if google was to index a backordered (expired) domain will it consider it as a new domain, or will it be consider as an established domain because of it's age?

That's a tricky question. One you may want to ask directly by contacting Google.

But a backordered domain isn't the same as an expired one. If Google already has a domain name indexed, it won't lose its place when a new owner picks up the name.

Furthermore, if it's backordered to a new owner, the site doesn't "expire" during the transition.

If it does, I've never seen it happen.
