How can I find out where my bandwidth is going?

Hello.

For the last couple of years my website has maintained a steady average of using 30 to 80 MB of bandwidth a day. Last week this suddenly spiked to 250 to 300 MB a day and sucked up my bandwidth limit in the first week of the month. I suspect that I am the victim of some kind of prank or something. Since I use doteasy to host my site I can't get server side info as to where this bandwith is going.

Iss there some way for me to trace where this happening from that would be fairly simple for a non-tech head type person?

Thanks.

It might be an idea to have a good look through your log files or stats program to try and work out what could be using the extra bandwidth.

Check for bots that are hitting you hard.

It would also be worth making sure that no one is using your images on their site, and calling then from your server. This is called "hot linking".

UdderJuice: When you say that you "can't get server side info", do you mean that you do not have access to your log files? So you're asking about third-party trackers...?

Thank you.

So your monthly bandwidth limit is circa 2 GB?

Even the cheapest shared hosts offer tens of GB transfer a month - I suggest you find a new host and stop worrying about it!
