My boss downloaded lots of websites useing frontpage, where you can type a url in and it will download an entire website. I know theres a few other programs doing this also. Is there any way of preventing this so no one can download our website?

Also I think he tried downloading a website one time with frontpage and it wouldent let him. So something must exist?

And if not, can you explain why?

Thank you,
Billy Heiman

For the most part, if it can be seen, it can be taken. If you don't want it taken, don't put it up for all to see.

You can block known scraping tools in your .htaccess file, so any call from FrontPage or SiteSnagger or WebCapture, etc, will be blocked.

Ask around in the "Apache Web Server" [webmasterworld.com] forum for specifics. (Since there is no way to search the site, I can't refer you to specific threads, but some "regular" on that forum should be able to find something for you.)
