HI, I just got riffed so Im entering the job hunt market. My question/concern is the format of my resume. Initially I thought that .txt format would contain the limited formating that I wanted, but that seems untrue. Thought about a pdf, but the extra step could upset the HR people. What is everyone else doing?

Thanks,

ps. if you know of any networking sites for full time employment, please pass them on

Word is the most common format asked for.

Do a few versions - PDF, Word, HTML RTF.

Do one in flash as well just to have it.

And put one on-line in various styles to demonstrate your web abilities.

I once read this in an article: the author was once asked for pictures of his children, to which he replied, I'm a writer not a photographer. I can describe my children to you much better than a photograph could.

Once you get your resume in a finalized format thay you are truely happy with you can put it in whatever format you want :) Id go with PDF since its nice and printable, word scares people away now adays couz of all the viruses and HTML is also a good format, you can do the blinking text that says Hire Me in a light-gray so the people reading it will wanna hire you ;)
