I run my blog on wordpress. I decided to use Google sitemap for better indexing therefore downloaded the Google sitemap pluigin from [arnebrachhold.de...] which automatically generates the sitemap.xml from the blog structure.

So far so Good.

But when this sitemap was submitted to Google its showing some URL's from the sitemap as denied URL's. Heres an example:

URL Error
[blog.com...] URL not under Sitemap path
[blog.com...] URL not under Sitemap path
[blog.com...] URL not under Sitemap path

The sitemap file is in root so such problems shoudnt arise theoritically.

Then I changed the permalink structure thinking? mark may be the culprit but it still didnt help.

Does this mean is the plugin upto some mischief?

or

I am not using it properly?

Plz help ASAP.

Thanks.

I have problems with the Google sitemap as well.

I got a 3rd party sitemap set up, site verified and site crawled. When the sitemap was first made it showed 1 404 error which I corrected.

After the crawl, Google shows about 15 (mostly 404) errors. The fine print says that the errors are on pages in the sitemap or on the server.

Problem is, none of pages showing the 404 are on the server or in the sitemap. Some of the pages have not been on the server for months.

I believe Google is also adding the results found in their index, many of which are very stale.
