What are the stats of your website during its first few months?

I have a website and I am having 30 to 40+ unique visitors per day. It is running for 34 days as of now. Is this a good start? How can I increase the number of people visiting my website?

My website is about Exams. My website is an educational website for reviewers of College Entrance Exams, IT certification, licensure exams etc.

In how many months will I have 1000 unique visitors per day?

Thanks!

It all depends on your seo skills. you can have that number in 3 months or three years. Make sure to keep adding unique content and make it a point to get at least one -ontopic- inbound link per day.

so an inbound link is a link from other websites that points to my website, right?

Okay, so is my starting stats just normal? is there a website that gets 400+ per day on its first month?

There are web site that get 10K per day the first month and there are (a lot more) that get under 10 per day even after a year.

Get after the incoming links and do some advertising if things aren't ramping up fast enough for you.

Yes.

As frequent says, there is no "usual" amount of traffic. It's kinda like asking what was your first year's turnover for your business - it depends on a lot of different factors and can vary from industry to industry, as well as being impacted by your contributions to the business.

How many inbound links should I have so that I can have an average of 500 users per day? or better 1000 users per day?

My goal for this month is to have 100 users per day. I am now having about 40 users per day and I am very happy about that. they are accessing 5 to 25 pages per user.

Should I be the one to do it? (adding inbound links). I've been posting my website to education forums. I also have a software at downloads.com that already have 250+ downloads from december 18 to now.

It doesn't work like that I'm afraid.

Just build content and get links to your site at a steady rate - not too much, not too little at any given time period (month or two).

As you do this, your traffic will increase.

While it is good to have target traffic levels, it is near impossible to quantify exactly what you need to do to achieve that (in terms of pages or links) - it just varies so much from site to site.

i have about 1000 pgs. and an average of 6000 "hits" per day, after 3.5 years.... is that bad?

what is "hits" vs. the other number that I see, which is usually around 3400

my first year i averaged about 300-500 hits a month with only about 100 pgs. or so of stuff

I judge my sites to be successful if I can get 8 - 10 people per day per page after 10 months.

I have a dynamic website. and I have around 50 pages. So if I need 10 users per page, that would be 500 users per day overall? Or just 10 users per day after 10 months?

It all depends on your seo skills.

If you're looking for SE traffic.

If you're good at viral marketing you could get away with half a dozen links... and a lot of buzz.

If you're selling something on the site it may be worth advertising and getting 10K visitors from tomorrow.

If you get a link from slashdot you could crash your server in the next few hours with the sheer volume of visitors.

There is no one answer.

I have a math software for kids. I think people like it. It is free and very easy to use. It has a commercial competitor priced at $30

How can I use that software for my advantage in promoting my website. It is already available in the Downloads.com and one of the popular downloads in that website.

Thanks.

Seriously though,

There are a variety of things you can do. Given your product, why not offer a free progress/improvement tracking system on your main site that is promoted within the program. They could opt in to receive email congrats and newsletters at various milestones. You could even expand it to a snail mail newsletter. Eventually sell branded clothing and educational toys etc. at an on-line store.

Really, the possibilities are endless.

Is there any other way? It is a nice little program and it runs fast and stable. I dont want to add malware or any irritating code. I just want it to dominate the worksheet generation software arena. he he.

you need to have a little patience and read Brett's 26 steps (Mod can you hotlink to it)

30-40 uniques in 34 days is not bad at all. It is also a very short time, you are probably not even starting to rank in the SE's yet.

I already have a page rank of 1. My website is a quiz site so it contains about 150+ quizzes ranging from simple math to complete College entrance exam reviewer.

When you try to search for a quiz in google, sometimes, my website shows in the first page because it matches the title of the quiz.

I just need to add more contents so I will cover most of the exams.

I'm afraid no body can tell you how many months will your site reach 1k visitors a day. It really depends on your skills, your content, and your industry.

I have been running my site for 2.5 years, It is currently getting 3k to 4k unique visitors daily. I believe I am only doing so-so compared to many of the pros here. I noticed somebody mention "hits" in previous post. Don't mistaken "hits" as real traffic. My hits per day ranges from 160,000 to 300,000 and page view ranges from 9k to 18k. Only take "uniques" as your real traffic.
