VISA/MC Merchant Account Blacklist

Is this an Urban Legend or is it real?

Somebody mention to me that if you lose your merchant account, your merchant provider will add you to a blacklist, and you will never get a merchant account again.

This sounds like conspiracy or an Urban Legend to me, like all those other black list rumors.

Any truth to this one, or Urban Legend?

Depends where you are ...here is true .."blacklist" is held /run by "Banque de France" ..

In France ..applies to "carte bleu" ( visa )and MC ..anyway all card swipe machines are delivered by just the one monoploy granted company ..and they have to have authorisation from the bank in question so it's pretty much sewn up ..

Uk and Ireland have similar lists I seem to remember ..maybe less monopolistic as regards providers of hardware etc though ..

Did some research, and VISA and Mastercard does have a blacklist called TMF (Terminated Merchant File)which is now called MATCH.

To me it seems only to penalize the honest companies that may have had excessive chargebacks for one reason or another.

All the dishonest companies would just start a new company with a differnt set of principals.

Seams kind of pointless in this day an age.
