My new laptop came preinstalled with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard and Reader 6.0
As anyone who has Adobe Reader 6.0 knows, the program stinks - it takes absolutely forever to load in Windows (due to all the plug-ins) and occasionally crashes Firefox right along with it.
Thus, I was considering upgrading the Reader to 7.0. So my question is, what happens to Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard that is already on my machine? Will that mess up my ability to create PDF files with it - or is Adobe Acrobate Reader a seperate program entirely from Adobe Acrobat Standard? I make very few PDF files, so I have no reason to pay to upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0. I just need to know if keeping standard 6.0, and upgrading to the free reader 7.0 version, will mess anything up and might hamper my ability to make an occasional PDF file.
Also, is it safe to uninstall Acrobat Reader 6.0? Or will uninstalling it mess up Adobe Acrobat Standard 6.0 too?
I hope this question makes a bit of sense but I'm a bit confused right now by the differences between these two products.
Thanks.
Jim
