Much can be said about Tim Berners-Lee but who are the real pioneers.

We can connect the 'internet' with the second world war or before.

Let's have a Roll of Honour for those who go with little or no mention.

For example, it is fair to say that the late Cori Rudl was a marketing pioneer.

J.C.R. Licklider played a part in the 1960's whilst developing 'real time interactive computing'

Hopefully this gets the ball Rolling!

John S. Quarterman, for mapping the Usenet/Internet first in his book "The Matrix" (January 1990, 719 pages). The list price was $59, and in the pre-Amazon-times I got mine shipped from the US for about twice that price.

You might enjoy the book "Where Wizards Stay Up Late", a potted history of the early internet.

The trouble with most or indeed all of these publications is that they name the usual names but little or no mention of whi I consider the 'real' pioneers.

I am convinced that there is a large number of people who originally thought of the ideas relating to the internet and the more 'press and media savvy' people took the credit.
