I flicked through the thread about webmasterworld.com having problems at the moment - having to block bots etc. I wonder if and when webmasterworld.com will be available for search again (eg. using google to search webmasterworld.com). It is becoming a real pain with no search - webmasterworld.com as a resource is much depleted without it.

I agree. Hope this issue finds alternative solutions.

LOL - I wonder how many extra servers will be needed to substitute search function previously done by Google for the sake of keeping just one box used by the BBS itself.

Having said that I always thought having a content rich site and forcing people to use Google to search for it was totally bizarre.

I actually loved it. I could find anythign easily. Even my own posts by just including my name into the search. It worked really well! Now I can't find anything. It's like loosing a hand.

I had no problems usiing Google either. It is already a major PITA not having any search and we are only a few days into this. It has seriously affected the usability of the forum.

Google has search technology available for sites to run directly on their own hardware, but I think it's critical for WebmasterWorld to get back into G's index to keep growing the community.

FWIW you can still use Yahoo! to search the site for now.
