I have been reading a lot via various sites that submitting articles to various article sites can be beneficial to your rankings following the link you'll recieve from each submission.

I was just wondering, is this really true? Should I write up lots of unique articles for my subject area and then submit them to lots of article submission sites?

I hope the above makes sense!

It certainly is true that submitting articles to some sites can help you acquire backlinks. But before you dive in headfirst, make sure that the backlink will be worth more to you than what the article would be worth to you if published on your own website.

Also, make sure you're clear on how the website your submitting to treats its outbound links. You don't want to do all that work with the intent of getting a backlink for SEO purposes then find out they're using CGI redirects or nofollow on all of their links.

Best of luck to you, let us know how things work out for you.

thanks for the advice - how do i know if they're using cgi redirects or NOFOLLOW? Sorry - I am not too clever when it comes to things like this.

Just look at the articles by other people they've already posted and look at the source code.

RE: No follow.

What is the advantage to me of designating outbound links as "no follow"?

Does this mean that my site does not lose PR to the sites that it links to?

If so, is it then to my advantage to use "no follow"?
