I was looking into buying an Opt-in Email Lists. I visited many sites that offer lists a very different prices. Some 5000 emails for $50 and others 10 Million for the same price. Some also target regions and demographics.
Are these a scam? Are these the new "1 million hits to your website for $10".
Has anyone ever tried some of these list brokers?
Did you get a good ROI?

I'd be wary of the 1 million opt-in emails for $50. How do you know they're really opt in... you could get tagged as an email spammer (and this is bad because, among other things, some domain registrars are known to take your domain hostage in this situation). If you buy opt-in lists I'd have to say go with a reputable source with lists relevant to your target market, which means doing some research to find out the top reputable list providers.
