Technorait tags: how do they work?

Is a technorati tag supposed to generate an automatic link?

I have a WordPress blog & have used several plugins to generate Technorati tags. I've noticed that sometimes the tags do produce listings for the post at the Technorati site and sometimes they don't.

I've tried to look through the Tech. site to see what it says about this issue but it's silent as far as I can tell.

Would anyone have any links to sites that explain how and when Technorati will create such tags. What criteria does Technorati use to decide whether or not to generate a link fr. a tag? Should Technorati be linking to every Technorati tag I create? Or does Technorati pick & choose among tags?

Technorati links to all my tags, though sometimes it takes a while. Indexing should be automatic, but sometimes they miss a post or two. Be sure your blog is set up to ping Technorati [technorati.com]. If all else fails, try giving them an extra ping after posting.

By the way, your blog has a problem when viewed at a resolution of 800x600. The sidebar is stuck at the bottom of the page, after the rest of the content. You might need to widen the <div> enclosing your content a bit, or make your post or sidebar a bit narrower.

Upon further investigation, your blog's posts are being indexed by Technorati (they show up in regular search results), but the tags are sometimes not being recognized. I've never had this problem, but others apparently have.

A blog called "A Consuming Experience" has discussed Technorati indexing problems before. Don't hesitate to contact Technorati support. It may take a week or two, but they will eventually respond.

Thanks, Knappster. I know about the 800x600 display problem. I'm no expert at such technical issues & don't know how to go about fixing the issue. But I have someone who's helped me w. my site in the past that I might be able to ask about this.

As for the tags, can you tell me how you discovered that Technorati is having problems recognizing my tags? That might help me get at the problem better.

I have already e mailed Technorati support about this. We'll see what they say.

BTW, after writing this I looked more closely at my posts & it does appear that for my last 10 blog posts Technorati HAS created links for most of my tags. But it's taken anywhere fr. 10 mins. to 5 hrs. or more to do so (the Technorati tags Help pg. says it should take at most an hr.--this is definitely not true in my case).

I will also check out that site you mentioned.
