Help, changed domain name

host sever are the same, old one running well

I have a site, and its domaion link: www.aa.name.com, and the "name" doesn't target its content, so we buy a new domain name www.aa.com, now we want to change this whole site to the new domain name, but the host server is the same old one.

At present, the old one has a good PR=7,6, and has more then 20,000 pages, some keywords also runing well on google.

How should I do so that can keep the pages running well? and the googlebot spidered the new pages quickly and deeply?

Switching domain names now sounds like a recipe for disaster - even with a 301 permanent redirect from the old domain's pages to the identical pages at the new domain you risk your site disappearing for months if not years.

Why change when the old site is ranking so well? Just 301 redirect the new domain to the old content and don't change the URLs at all.

My manager thinks the domain name isn't not well, because its another brand, not ours, so want to change, and now what I need to do is the reduce the effect for SE.

But I don't know what I can do.

I'd suggest you print out message #2 above, and show it to your manager.

Also research the phrase "sandbox new domain" here on WebmasterWorld...

But I really need to do this, no doubt, it must bad at first, but after this, I think it would be better then now.

we also did many ads, and get a high page views everyday from SE, hope we can far away from the sandbox.

Do you think 301 redirect is the best? the host server does not changed, and the file names also do not changed, IS will just rewriter the URL,and keep the old and new for one month or longer.

Give me a hand please!
