using ccleaner (a program that cleans)
I realized that the following was part of the items to delete:
http://www.example.com/r/doors/979/supersales.gift
(www.example.com is a web builder). Does anyone know what this is and how it came to our site (a gift site) and how to stop it from getting in.

Elaine: You really have me confused.
Was the example url somewhere in the code for your pages? If so, simply delete it.
Did you use 'www.example.com' to build or compose your pages?
If so it probably put in its own little link as an advertisement. -Larry

Thanks Larry,
clarifications:
Did you use 'example.com' to build or compose your pages?
YES!
If so it probably put in its own little link as an advertisement....
HOW?
who would access this link, nobody sees it on our site?

Is the URL within an image tag? It could be a "web bug", or a link to a 1x1 pixel GIF file on a remote server. This would enable the remote server to obtain user statistics (IP address, browser type, frequency of visits, etc.) from the users of your site.
