Why google rank of zero on SE friendly site?

I've built what I consider to be SE friendly pages. Good meta tags, my keywords used a lot in content, alt. tags used, etc. etc. I've submitted a stiemap to google. I'm using google adsense on every page. I'm using AdWords too.

Yet, I have lot's of product pages with a google rank of zero. I can compare a product specific page to the exact same product on a competitors site and my page seems to be more SE freindly, contain more keywords, etc.

My index page has a rank of 5.

Google link tool shows about 50 links to my index page, about half being my own product pages. I have about 200 product pages all with a plain text link to my home page. This site has been indexed by google for over two years.

How in the world can my product pages still rank zero?

Are your product pages dynamic with arguments? (IE product.jsp?id=12345&color=red)

Or are they "static" (.html/.php/.jsp/.asp) looking from the url perspective?

Up until recently (for two years) they were plain jane html. ( I generated pages on my local machine from a db & template using visual basic- these hard html pages were uploaded to server).

They are now generated the same way but I'm using php "includes" for headers, nav bars, footers, advert cell, etc. But the pages are still actual pages (xyz.php) unloaded to the server.

I do have some dynamically generated pages which are cgi scripts such as
site/cgi-bin/script.cgi?new

This generates a page showing a "summary" page of all "new" product.

So the answer to your question is:
They are static!

Are you saying, however, that you have recently renamed all of your pages (ie. from .html to .php)? Did you redirect the old pages to the new, and are those redirects functioning and still in place? If yes, what kind of redirect are you using, meta refresh, 302, 301?
