Hi guys,

I have a site with hundreds of thousands of pages and some of the minor pages are only hit by the SEs maybe 1-3 times a year. Any tips on how i can get these pages spidered more often?

Install sitemaps.
And maybe have also an external link pointing to your sitemap.

Why are some of the pages "deep"? How deep is "deep", anyway?

I'd had problems (in an earlier incarnation of my site, years ago) with some of my pages being buried down far enough in the directory structure that they were frequently being missed by interested visitors. So I re-did the site, making the front page more of a "go here for this, go there for that" sort of page. This allowed people to go right for what they wanted, which was -- at most -- one level down.

That is, instead of making people follow this structure:

    domainname.com/section_heads/section_pages/sub_section_folder/page_of_interest.htm

...they went straight to:

    domainname.com/section_of_interest/page_of_interest.htm

I don't know if such a restructure would be of assistance to you, but it might be something to consider.

Eliz.
