Just bought tickets to see Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz with my Adsense Money. Thanks Google.......Wonder who the opening act will be?

If I take my programmer and we talk about C++ can I deduct this?

Thanks for the advice...

No.. It would never pass the test with an audit.

I disagree, I purchase sporting event tickets all the time for my employees and clients.

Assuming you can document the discussion... I can't see why not.

Thanks for the input. I probably have a lot of deductions that I could use but haven't. Here is a list of what I have deducted.

Hosting Fees
New Computer

That is it. Lunches etc I know can be deducted but entertainment and social evente i.e. concerts are probably a different matter.

I am going to find an accountant and get a good list together. I will post it here when I get it put together.

Thanks again. The post may seem tongue and cheek but it really isn't. If I knew I could write of entertainment expenses like concerts, sporting events and the like I would surely do more to hopefully increase my business while getting a tax break at the same time.

A percentage of it will be; ask your CPA... just like your meals. Stuff it under Travel/Entertainment. If you use QuickBooks they even have a category for that in expenses.

Business entertainment expenses are partially deductible. It used to be somewhere in the 80% range; forget what it is now.

I used to take my clients out to shoot my machine gun. When I got audited, the IRS auditor didn't even blink.

Aerosmith is a has been and they won't let you deduct has beens.

Lenny Kravitz on the other hand is most certainly a deduction.

I'm just peeved I'm not invited - I *LOVE* Lenny, he's the 'Minister of Rock and Roll' don't you know and I need to be 'Baptized' in his concert, with my 'American Woman' at my side. I'm sure 'Mr Cab Driver' would make sure I got home safely.

I'm not sure how things work in the US, but I would have thought that you would have to demonstrate a reasonable expectation that your business would benefit (or actually did benefit) from such hospitality.... sounds unlikely in this case.
