Why so many foreign hits?

Why is my unpublished site getting flooded with foreign IP hits?

I operate a simple, US based/English written website. It was recently made public, and as of yet is on the bottom of every search engine ranking, if it's even listed at all.

When I resolve the IP's of people who visit the site, almost all of them are from Asia. China, Taiwan, Malaysia , Korea, even Bosnia and Herzegovina. All but one of the China hits do not have a USER AGENT that my PHP can detect..

What's going on? How do they even know of this site? Why would so many of them visit it? Thank you!

If there is no user agent, these should be bots

Most bots usualy came from USA and a few from Europe, nearly never from Asia except a very few from Japan.

Lots of computers in Asia are infected with trojan and used as zombie for mail spam. They could also scan web pages for new E-Mail adress.

If you have a lots of E-Mail adress on your website you should take care to protect it from these bots.

Thank you. I saw that MSN, Yahoo, and Google search bots all identify themselves in the User Agent.. which is why I didn't think these were search bots.

Trojans makes sense to me. Thanks for the advice on the e-mails
