Due to google toolbar and microsoft's pack that installs popup blocker my revenue that I depend on has dramatically been affected. I use such companies as
<snip> and <snip>. I am lucky to make a few go through a day. I know that invue and hover windows are still able to be shown for the most part, is there any companies such as the ones above but for those kind of "non-popup" ads?

popups are generally not very good as it can annoy your visitors while popunders works fine even if there is popblocker. I think as an alternate option you can also use the traditional method 'banner ads' as it can also generate the brand awareness as well.

The world and his wife has jumped onto the "popup blocker" toolbar in an attempt to sweet talk the naive into downloading their toolbar. And you are right, it has damaged our revenue significantly. As a business which relies upon advertising we use 'medium rectangles', skyscrapers and leaderboards from two of the larger player agencies (can't name then, it's against WW TOS) but you can always visit our site and discover for yourself what we do.

Invue adverts - the ones that 'float into view' - are a major turn off to readers, I strongly advise caution before implementing them.

Speaking as a web USER, there are sites I never go to anymore because of the stupid pops, slides, popunders and all. How many times do you expect a visitor to your site to tolerate being informed that they are the 1,000,000th visitor? How willing do you think we are to return for 2-4 unwanted windows popped onto our desktop? How forgiving are we supposed to be of fake X close boxes that actually open the ad? How often must we suffer being called suckers for installing countermeasures on our computers, when whatever ancillary wares they contain are far less obnoxious than the unwanted pops? How stupid are we thought of, that people would pay for ads offering free smilies, without some catch?

As a web MASTER, I am going to be placing only banner or on-page ads like adsense for my site, out of desire to build a non-obnoxious brand name for my ecommerce site. On my hobby sites that will have ads eventually, same thing- if I cannot offer a site that users like that makes money without annoying, what is the philosophy behind deviating from that into utter obnoxiousness? Hope thest thoughts help, -Automan

It's reassuring after reading the replies in this thread that even webmasters frown upon popups.

Pop up blockers are built-in into refrigirators, not to metion browsers. Pop ups just can't live, they are like bacteria that people found immunity for.
