i'm thinking about making a claim against someone in canada,

i have successfully made similiar claims in the uk using the "small claims court" this is a court which caps the amount of the claim and caps the amount of legal costs that are allowed to be claimed, the idea is that it is an accessible form of litigation without spiralling costs.

does anyone know if there is a similiar system in canada???

Small claims courts in Canada are governed by each of the individual provinces. In order to make a claim, you will need to file in the jurisdiction of the person you are suing, or where the wrong doing occurred.
