Rumours that the UK ISP was planning to drop Google's search results for Fast Search & Transfer, which was acquired by Overture in April, started early last month but both parties refused to confirm the deal at the time.
I would imagine that it is more about cost than "relevancy and breadth of results"; Overture can probably afford to offer their in-house results cheaper than Google, since they already provide most of the advertising.
