we are kind of told how many people search using google.com but do we know how many people search using google.co.uk

...and is there any tool to count how many time a particular keyword is searched for on .co.uk?

I don't know a tool, but what you can do is open an adwords account for your keyword and compare impression results by selecting different country filters.

Also look at your log files for that keyword from the .com and .co.uk, you may get some information there.

thanks smiley.
good idea regarding the adwords thing.

I already know I'm getting no traffic from .co.uk

I'm really happy with my .com serps but I'm nowhere to be seen on .co.uk

just tried the uk google adwords thing but the keyword suggestion tool brings back the exact same results that the .com version brings back.

so the keyword tool does not appear to be region specific

IMO the accuracy of the Google Adwords forecast impressions is highly suspect at the moment. E.g. the results vary too widely when using the same set of search phrases twice, just a few minutes apart.

yonnermark - you need to find out why you aren't getting any referrals from .co.uk. Where is your server based?

my server is in the uk (derbyshire) and the domain is a .com

I just did a little bit of testing and at google.com "blue widget" brings me up at #3 & 4 with the official "blue widgets" website being #1 & 2.

On the .co.uk (with uk sites selected) when I search for "blue widget" I'm nowhere in sight and EVEN WHEN I search for "allintitle:blue widget" I am not listed AT ALL (I scrolled through all the results).

So it seems that I am not even considered a uk site.

...which is all very strange

Smiley - are u saying that an Adwords account at .com doesn't mean that your ads are shown when someone searches for your keyword on .co.uk?

If so, I need to do some work, and fast!

yonnermark, you might want to read this thread about getting listed in Google uk. [webmasterworld.com]

Michael_Anthony you need to look at your account settings to make sure you've selected your target languages and target countries correctly.

Back on topic, I see about 25% traffic from G UK compared to G.com The keyword tools that are available should be used as a rough guide only.

"I see about 25% traffic from G UK compared to G.com"

and do you have a .com or .co.uk or both?

Michael_Anthony,

>>Smiley - are u saying that an Adwords account at .com
>>doesn't mean that your ads are shown when someone
>>searches for your keyword on .co.uk?

As engine said you have to set the adwords target countries up for each account.

yonnermark,
>>so the keyword tool does not appear to be region specific...

Thats right but you can set the campaign to run UK only for a week then US only for a week and compare stats.

With a .co.uk we get:

for every 4 visitors on google.com directly we get 3 from google.co.uk and 2 from yahoo.com
