Is it just me, or does it not seem to have many results? I thought that there were loads of UK pages in Inkomi (it is Ink, isn't it?).

Did you see the "Search Partners" It appears blank on my screen.

Also, server response time, too.

They are heavily filtered results, although I'm not sure. They look like they are Ink customer-filtered results through to Hotbot UK.

I think they only list .co.uk sites - no UK .coms or even uk.com sites.

Did anyone else see the pop-up on HotBot US for HotBot UK over the weekend being served to UK surfers? It came up for about an hour in the style of the AV pop-up.

Taste of things to come? Also, I have a couple of clients who say that they get re-directed to MSN UK when they type in msn.com. I don't get this myself and it could be finger trouble by them.

There are plenty of those domains in the dB, try the Advanced Search [hotbot.lycos.co.uk], you can specify the domain.
The results are the same as at [ukmax.com] , UK filtered clustered Ink.

Thats the way it is, the "average" UK surfer wouldn't be able to get to the .com.

Agreed NFFC, the initial (before you deselect UK, Ireland only) results are almost exactly the same as UKMax, apart from the fact that UKMax filters UK sites from the current Inktomi DB (ie. paid for submission appear within 2-4 days) and on Hotbot UK, I'm still waiting!

I checked, myself. There is no postitiontech.co.uk, but I am curious if there is an equivalent.
Ross, I do not know where you are from. I live in Canada. I can log onto the internet and stay connected all day and never receive any extra charges. In the UK, I believe, any phone call is pay-per-call and pay-per-minute. Makemetop I know, is in the UK.

Startup, I think Ross was refering to HotBot UK which can be VERY slow! No, there is no Positiontech equivalent which is UK based currently and yep - in the UK we get stung every way for connecting to the Internet. Meant to change a bit in the New Year. I do have a 24/7 flat monthly charge access but most people here do not.

Hi everyone

Sorry for being 'dense' - my first posting etc., but am I right in thinking that my 'paid for' Inktomi pages should show up in UK engines that derive their results from Inktomi.com?
When I enquired about this service in November an Ink rep told me that results would be used by UK engines and there was no dedicated UK 'paid for' service.
So far, my pages are appearing in the .com's that use Inktomi but nowhere in the .co.uk engines.

If not, could someone guide me as to the best route to be listed in the UK versions of MSN, HotBot?

Paid for results are appearing in all the UK Inktomi partners with the current exception of HotBot UK (who I have contacted about this and given examples). If you are showing up in .com engines you should be on the .co.uk ones (I certainly am) however remember the following: many Inktomi partners filter out .com sites and just list .co.uk (UKMax, UK Goto, BTInternet etc) also MSN UK lists UK Directory AND US Directory sites before the Inktomi results.
