Description shown for a page

Do I need "description" and "dc.description" tags?

To comply with the UK Government metadata standards it looks like the meta data element name for description should be "dc.description" rather than "description".

The dc is to indicate that the element is part of the Dublin Core.

If I do this then what impact is this going to have on different search engines?

Should I put in two entries, one for "dc.description" and one for "description"?

And just to make it slightly more confusing for me the latest standards, see [e-envoy.gov.uk...] have the prefix as "e-GMS" rather than "dc". Is this going to make things more difficult in the future?

Thanks

Paul B.

Personally I wouldn't worry about National government meta data standards, the only standards that matter are the ones that the W3C supports and the ones the search engines use.
