IAB announce the "value" of online advertising

In all the usual places today the IAB announced that online advertising expenditure was up 18% to around £196 million in 2002.

It also reported that 31% of that was down to performance based marketing like Espotting and Overture.

I'm amazed that less than a third of all online spend goes on that, and still goes on banners, popups etc.

How do those numbers stack up with other agencies, are you seeing an increase in expenditure?

Generalising, I would say that there have been more businesses advertising, and higher costs for the adverts. This tends to indicate more spend and may muddy the water.
